Scripture:“Now may the God of hope fill you with all Joy and Peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13 (NKJV)

Truth to Hold On To

Hope is more than wishful thinking, it’s a confident expectation rooted in who God is. Life may shake us, but hope anchors us.

Lamentations 3:21–24 reminds us: “This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’” (NKJV).

The world places hope in circumstances changing, but as believers, our hope is in Christ, who never changes. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” – 1 Peter 1:3 (NKJV).

Hope is what carries us through suffering, reminding us that pain is not permanent and the story is not over.

Where This Gets Real

Coming out of my double mastectomy, I had to learn to live in hope day by day. The healing journey was long and often overwhelming. But slowly, I began to see the faithfulness of God shining through the cracks of my weakness.

The moment I realized I had turned a corner wasn’t when all the pain was gone, it was when I realized I still had a future in Him. He wasn’t finished with me. The God who brought me through cancer was the same God who was now writing the next chapter of my life's story.

I held onto Romans 15:13 and prayed it often: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NKJV). And He did. Even in tears, I found joy. Even in uncertainty, I found peace. Even in weakness, I found hope rising.

Hope didn’t erase the scars, but it gave them new meaning. They became markers of God’s mercy and His power to redeem every season of life.

Prayer

“God of hope, thank You for filling me with Joy and Peace even in the middle of trials. Teach me to live anchored in the hope of Christ, no matter what I face. Let my life be a testimony that Your mercies are new every morning, and my future is secure in You.” In Jesus name, amen.

Reflection Question

Where do I need to invite hope back into my life? How can I let the Holy Spirit fill me with Joy and Peace as I wait on God’s promises?

Challenge

Each morning this week, pray Romans 15:13 over your life. Declare out loud: “My hope is in Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I will abound in hope today.”
