Scripture:“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?” – Psalm 56:3–4 (NKJV)
Truth to Hold On To...
Trusting God doesn’t always come naturally. We want answers, timelines, and clarity—but faith often begins in the dark. The psalmist was honest: he admitted his fear but chose to turn it into trust (Psalm 56:3–4).
Shall Means Promise
Anytime I see the word “shall” in the Bible, I underline it. Why? Because if God says He shall, then it’s a bonafide promise, it will happen.
The truth is, we live in an instant culture—a microwave society. We are the “I want it now” generation. We microwave meals in minutes, scroll through endless information in seconds, and expect same-day delivery on nearly everything. Patience has become almost foreign to us.
And when God doesn’t answer on our timetable, we panic, question Him, or try to take matters into our own hands. But faith doesn’t work like a microwave—it’s more like a slow cooker. God allows trust to simmer over time until it’s tender, ready, and perfect.
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
Notice the repeated word? Shall. That’s not wishful thinking—that’s a promise.
Abraham waited decades for God’s promise of a son (Genesis 21:1–2).
Joseph waited years in prison before stepping into his destiny (Genesis 41:14–16).
David was anointed king as a young man, but spent years hiding in caves before he sat on the throne (2 Samuel 5:1–3).
Each of them faced moments of fear and doubt. Yet in the waiting, God built trust. In the uncertainty, He deepened faith. And in the silence, He proved that His plan is greater than anything we could rush into ourselves.
Where This Gets Real
In my single days, I once found myself down to the wire, searching for a place to live with no options left. Doors kept closing, and I felt the pressure mounting with time running out. I tried everything I knew to do, but nothing seemed to work. Finally, I had no choice but to lay it all down and trust the Lord completely.
I prayed, “God, You know my need. You see the deadline. I’m choosing to trust You, even when I don’t see the answer yet.”
It was in that place of surrender that God opened the right door. At the very last moment, He provided exactly what I needed. A very cute 1 bedroom in-law apartment to be precise - a place of safety and security. His timing was perfect—not early, not late. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6–7 (NKJV)
I walked away from that season knowing in a deeper way that He is faithful, even when the clock is ticking.
Prayer
“Lord, I confess that trusting You is sometimes hard for me. Help me release my fears and hold onto Your faithfulness. Even when I can’t see the outcome, remind me that You see the beginning and the end. Strengthen my heart to rest in Your promises.” In Jesus name, amen.
Reflection Question
What is one area of my life right now where trust feels hard? Which Scripture above speaks most to that area?
Challenge
Write down that area, and each day this week, speak Psalm 56:3–4 and Proverbs 3:5–6 over it:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
